Recommendations for pads and polish?

My paint is very swirly and i recently had my pal who owns a body shop give my paint a once over with a rotary and some fine compound.

However this didnt remove any swirls at all, and just gave it a bit more of a shine.

Please could you recommend some products and pads to get rid of the swirls and spider webs. i have access to a rotary and a da and have a few products of my own such as lime prime and ag srp along with some 3m stuff from the body shop and some megs show car glaze.

IS VW paint very tough as a rule (mk3 monza red) as my pal didnt want to use too aggressive stuff.

Just a rough guide of what steps to take on my old battered paint would be a great help as he's used to working on new paint

3M pads & 3M polishes... if I can get 30 year old merc paint looking flawless with that combo then it should be alright for you!!

If it is your first time machine polishing i would go for a DA.....less chanch of burning the paint

you only burn paint if you stay in the same spot for too long on a high speed...

which nobody should be doing anyway as youre meant to constantly move it in a steady motion
