Pass on the ACC question.

There are plenty  of companies that offer remaps. Revo seems to be the remap of choice over here in then MK6 area (www.revotechnik.com/) By the way, take the power outputs with a large pinch of salt.

Might be worth doing some digging on what the remap will do to your brand new cars warranty.

I have both the ACC and the Revo remap (275hp).

ACC is worth having, although I must admit I just leave it in comfort 99% of the time. Sport is really uncomfortable. Having driven a non-ACC GTI, I would say the standard suspension is more like the Sport setting on the ACC.

Revo remap is good fun, but not vital. Putting 275hp through the front wheels requires experience, whereas with the stock car, you can just mash your foot to the floor without thinking about the consequences. Although I would miss the extra power, I'm not sure I would do any sort of remap again in a FWD car, TBH.

In my view, yes it makes a difference.
However, comfort is too soft for the open road in my view...it allows the car to wallow about and feels not especially well set-up...but it cities on poor road surfaces, it's fantastic.

I leave mine in normal most of the time, using Sport for a proper blast - it's firmer for sure, but so much more precise...it allows a harder turn in, allows you to get the rear moving, and tightens up the steering inputs too for better response.

I find normal to be fairly similar to the standard damper GTI.
How it compares on a non-GTI?...I don't know.
Would I order it on a non-GTI, based on how it's likely to be driven?...probably not.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

He doesnt have a GTI and just has the 140 diesel so I would highly suggest he gives it a remap to give it more grunt.

An honest view from Froggy as always....

As stated above my car doesn't have ACC and personally I find the ride both comfortable and sporty.

With regard to Re-maps it’s something that really doesn’t fuss me. I'm not knocking this as I'm sure the quest to upgrade the cars power is very addictive and rewarding. However personally I would buy a Gold R if I wanted a more power as it has the 4 Motion to complement it.

I have ACC which I find to be a very worthwhile option.  Now that my car has loosened up nicely I find that on the roads around my area, the North York Moors that it is superb for handling in sport mode, however when I am travelling long distances on the motorway comfort is just the ticket.  For anything else I pop it into normal and that is good too.

With regard to having a remap I am not really into that as my car has enough power for my needs + I don't wish to b****r my warranty.

Welcome to the forum Steve.
Ive just ordered a 140 dsg match and seriously thinking of adding the above, what other extras can anybody recommend,Can the engine be chipped and if yes whos the best to do it in the north west area,
Well if you've ordered this Match 2.0 TDI(140) then I would have thought that you would have sorted all additional options available before you ordered, not order then ask questions later? Now I know VW aren't fast on build times they can be anywhere between 4 and 6 months. If you decide to add ACC then that could delay it a bit more. I don't have it so I can't comment if it worth the £765. You can always Google or YouTube this option.

As for rechips again at the moment I don't find that I need one. You could have opted for the GTD, or can't you afford the extra cost? Now the people I have talked to say that DTUK unit is very good. As already mentioned if you want to retain the 3 year warranty then this is a plug in unit that can be removed and it doesn't flash the ECU its been chipped as a lot do.

By the way which other options did you order, wheels, colour?

Now this site as the name suggests is mainly GTI based. You could always join TDICLUB and ask the same questions. There are others.

As stated by others, the ACC [or DCC as it says on the MFD] is a really worthwhile option. The difference between the 3 settings is really noticeable. Comfort for bumpy roads/speed bumps, normal for most other situations, sport for a blast. I use sport nearly as much as normal TBH if the roads I'm on have a decent surface as it makes the car more responsive and "tighter".
