You sure there isn't an auxiliary pump that runs after the engine turns off? My polo 1.8t had one.
An auxiliary pump to do what? There may be one on the Polo Kenny but it won't be a water pump.

Think about it Keith for a second. Your driving your car pretty hard over some back roads, into the high rev range in all the gears, turbo is spooling liek mad etc then you stop and turn your engine off, what cools the turbo and engine? This little chap I have posted below (click on link below). Its there to keep the oil cool so the oil doest cook your turbo shaft! These can run for up to 10 mins.

Feel free to have a look about google if you still doubt me

I'm not doubting you Kenny its something I've never heard of. You learn something everyday. That may have been fitted on some engines but not the GTD engine.

Harvey was saying that a new starter motor cured his faulty noise.

Te run on pumps aren't fitted to the Diesels I don't think...I believe it's to do with the much lower EGTs on diesels, and hence the turbos don't get as hot, so don't need it.
