Funnily enough, I had a new Cupra R get all racey with me on the way home from work last night, down the A3 towards Oxshott.

I could see him in the distance happily driving along in the middle lane until I shot passed overtaking him. Obviously this piss@d him off and he took the bait and was straight into the third lane and got all racey up behind me, tailgating me at 115mph + until I turned off a Oxshott.

It was a one of those bright yellow Cupra R's with black alloys in case someome seems him about down that way ( the Numpty )!

p.s. I did wish I was sitting in a Golf R at that point..... but at least he didn't pass me!

Out of the two i would go for the cupra r.

Since i have an mk2 fr i just prefar the looks to the golf. Just looks more like a hot hatch than the golfs do.

But thats me i am young lol.

Either way you cant go wrong there both quick and look really nice.

But i do question the price of that R at the moment. I surpose i would need to drive it to see if its worth it.
Diesel power all the way

Just shows how hard it is to compete with 4wd. Imagine the difference in the wet * a remap. I do like the the look of the Seat though, just not a big fan of the feel inside

Yeah it is the inside that lets it down for me too. The GTI has a brilliant interior - in fact the entire mk6 range has a nice interior. I suppose though that the Cupra was originally competing with the mk5 so it will be a bit dated by now.

Exterior wise still looks exciting I reckon.

The golf seems to be the polar opposite. Brilliant on the inside but a tad dull on the outside if I'm honest. But maybe I'm biased cause I reckon the GTI is spot on!

The Cupra R shape and sportiness is pretty much spot on. But + 1 with regard to the inside..... to many hard plastics inside. Not a patch on the GTI's classy and refined interior.

Money no object the Golf R will always have it but which ever way you look at it £5k is a lot of money.

Id rather have S3 over both any day though  :lipsrsealed:

Problem is.. if you have an s3, everytime you see and rs3 you will wish you had spent a little more. Wont have that trouble with the golf r

I've driven an S3 and a Golf R. The R is so much better to look at, has a much better ride and is a better drive. No contest I am sorry happy to say. :lipsrsealed:

I was sorely tempted for an S3 when I bought the GTI. Only issue is that it is showing it's age a bit now in handling and looks. Still a cracking car though.
