Well, I've been all over my car with my PTG, and I range from 130-160 microns in lots of places, obvious inside doors etc its a bit lower. Mine is white and I cant really see how you can prevent a stone chip. If crap hits your car, its gonna chip it.

Well I have more stone chips on my motor which has done 4k than any other GTI, and ive had 5 of them over the last 6rys?? My last car (ed30) had 4 chips on the front and I did 12k miles. The mk6 has about 7 already pepered around the front end?? Auto express car red mk6 the biggest complaint they made was around stone chips but a great car to drive!! Id like you to check my motor out with your gadget Kev see what you think?

Shame your in London or I would have had no problems checking your motor out with my tool

Give us a shout when your at a spurs game come meet you??

My favourite addition is ACC/DCC. It is brilliant as the car's dynamics can match one's mood so effectively.
If I may, I disagree with Ess_Three that the car tends to float in 'comfort' mode. This could be misconstrued for that 'big car feel' which it certainly has in this mode.

Round town, in 30 MPH limits, there are no issues.
But forget to turn it off, and try a decent twisty back road...and it feels like a 1980s Merc...wallowing and flopping all over the place.
Big car feel indeed...  :undecided:

At low speeds I notice no issues, or at higher speeds on motorways...it's just not suited to throwing the car down a challenging backroad....but why would you want to in 'Comfort' anyway?
Isn't that what 'Sport' is for.

Regardless, I wasn't sure how much the character of the car would change in each mode...and when new with non-run in dampers, it was hard to tell.
Now though, there are 3 distinct sets of behaviour.

Well worth the cash in my view.

Damn... I knew I should have had the ACC.  I tried a demo car that VW Wolsey kindly provided me for the day last May and I couldn't tell the difference between Normal and Sport, although there was a difference between comfort and sport, but not that much, which made me think that ACC was a bit of a gimmick.  However, reading all the reviews and the statements above, I wish my Mk6 was spec'd with it, not that I had a choice though as I am getting the standards middle eastern 'base spec' which has everything except for ACC and RNS510.  There is only a 5 day wait for the base spec as the car is at Jeddah port in Saudi - Base spec costs 119,000 Saudi Riyals (6000 Riyal discount for the month of Ramadan) which is about 19,950 pounds .  I would have to wait 3 months for a 'customised' spec and pay a lot more to just for ACC as the customised base spec is same as UK base spec and the price starts at 110,000 Saudi Riyals for that.

Miss the dipping left hand mirror, used to be standard.

I never had this in my MK5, but do in my MK6.  I think its only standard if you have the folding mirrors?

^ Or ordered the reverse parking sensors on the mk5 (depending on MY and what part of year). It often changed every 6 months what you got with what. I have all the leaflets from our mk5 days.
It sometimes creaps in on the mk6 with the parking sensor order too ot seems but not officially.

Had a GTI mk5 for a little over 3 years from new - loved it.

But.... wow love the Mk6. The cabin is for me where the best improvements where over the Mk5. The new dash and layout is a masive improvement. It's seems a reduced noise level, smoother tighter drive. Better on long motorways and great fun on A roads.
Wasn't bothered about increased speed etc - was the refinement and kit for me.

I terms of goodies, out of the ones I got, for me the top 3 items in order are:

1) 18" monza shaddows (IMO a major improvement over the standard rims - was lucky to see one with std 17" and one with 18" shaddows and it' was a big  improvement in looks I thought over the std.
2) Cruise control is a must, can't buy a car with out it.
3) RCD510 - major improvement over the std 300 series which looked naff - plus the rear view cam was buttons to buy and is a great and cool toy.

Got other stuff such as sunroof etc - but the above are my top 3. ACC - not really fussed. Tried x2 cars one with one without on extended test drives and struggled to spot the difference so didn't bother (for me would have been about the comfort element).

In a nutshell - loved the Mk6 and I'm very happy swapped to the Mk6 and not an S3etc.
