Well I removed the crossfade in iTunes then removed all MP3s from the iPod, resynched it with a fresh set of non-crossfaded songs and so far so good - it now has no stutter!!!

Just for clarity.

I was talking about the iPod 'stutter' issue and not the gaps between tracks.

Removing the crossfade option has remomved the stutter for me - 4 months of frustration but got there !!
