The previous owner of my car must have been an absolute moron. Not only did I find a receipt for 95 octane fuel when I was recently cleaning the car but today's find takes the biscuit!

I've just replaced the brake light and found that the previous owner must be a dick of the highest order. No wonder the offside tail light was dull, the moron had replaced a 21W 12V bulb with a 5W 12v bulb. Unbelievable, they don't even look the same, the 5W is tiny!

Anyone else got any stories about little findings that make you question what previous owners were thinking?!

The 2.0TFSI engine is designed for "optimal" performance on 98-99 RON. Will work perfectly fine on 95.

Im the 2nd owner of my car, the first was a "young lady" according to the dealer, everything seemed in order and was pretty much mint with 20k on the clock.

I've seen reports that sustained running on 95 can cause issues however!

I'm not convinced by that, while most GTI's have probably been run religiously on 98 by their petrol head owners - I'm sure the audi A3 and A4's owned by reps and family men with the same lump don't enjoy the same TLC.  You don't hear much about them falling to bits because they were run on 95 ...

edit:

I've just noticed that that article also claims the ed30 has stiffer suspension.  Which is wrong ... take what AE say with a pinch of salt.

Really? I can't see how. Modern engines adjust the timing with a knock sensor and will know when it needs to back off for 95. Hell even 88 onwards MKII 8v GTI's had this feature although the cap does say  super is recommended. There is nothing different enough between 95 and 98 that I can possibly imagine that would cause cylinder head problems.

Previous owner of mine fitted Wanli S1063 tyres, that's pretty much a slap in the face!
