Help Required - Problem with ABS light and Discs.
« on: 29 December 2004, 21:11 »
Today I bought some new 17inch alloy wheels for my MK3 GTI.

The supplier gave me longer bolts than standard I tried to tighten these up but I later realised they were too long I then changed them to the correct ones so I started to drive and heard a scraping noise and the ABS light came on.

I have since removed the tyre and checked out that there is this metal plte behind the disc which the bolt has pushed out causing it to run against the plate with the ABS sensor. I am gutted.

I am also going to lower the car any suggestions for this please.

Thankyou in advance. :embarassed:

Hello all

Some progress made. I have now found out that I require a new hub, sensor and abs ring.

I have since also bought some Boge lowering Sport Kit apparently it will lower my car by about 35mm.

Why do you need to replace the hub?? :undecided:
Extremely unlikely.
