Sounds a bit like an issue I had on my B6 Passat.

Turned out to be the dual mass flywheel.

Manual or DSG? and also is it hard acceleration or just light accerelation, I think people think you are ramping it and spinning the wheels.

Is this shudder accompanied by a loud tractor like noise and the whole car vibrating by any chance?

Oh dear doesn't sound good under light acceralation, get in there and complain.  Maybe they will tell you its normal like the rattly gearbox issue that they all have once warm.
