Glass cleaner?
« on: 24 June 2010, 21:47 »
My car is only 8 months old and really difficult to clean the glass. When i rub my hand over the windscreen glass it feels like sandpaper. Ive tried a few glass cleaners but with no joy, still rough.

I was thinking of claying it, ive got some megs clay and dodo born slippy but am a bit hesitant, dont want to scratch it etc.

Any idea's?

is the glass tinted or is it a film on the window? if it film on the window id say no but if the actual glass is tinted then it should be fine.

I presume the window is tinted glass (its a new mk6 GTI) and i wouldnt think VW would use film and i havnt had them tinted but not 100% sure

depends if it is tinted on the inside or outside no?

if i am correct in thinking most windows are tinted on the inside... so the majority of any contamination would be on the exterior?

sooo... if that is the case then clay away... but as Dan said... don't clay direct onto tinted film

my weapon of choice for windows is autosmart silver screen for heavy contamination and glass clear for light contamination (eg. exterior windows following a wash)
