280. Brakes were sh!t before they started to fade, then got progressively worse so it must be the pads.

Either they glazed for whatever reason or ebc have some quality control issues as you seem to get good and bad reviews on all their pads depending who you ask.

I shouldnt have been so tight and got the ferodos again, stick with what works n all that

We have 280's as well - with standard pads which seem to work well at the moment. I have heard good reviews of the EBC yellows - as long as you stick to the EBC bedding in procedure.

Tried greens and didn't rate them.

Me and Paul both run Mintex 1155's and we both rate them. Next time I see you with the Golf you'll have to take it out for a go and see what you think. They're the best pads I've ever used.

Yes the Mintex 1155's are very good pads and I have been very impressed by them over the last 2 1/2 years. Also been previously impressed by the Racing Blue fluid but not sure why the pedal went spongy at the end of last Friday. I've had the brakes smoking before and the wheels were so hot that the paint went soft and started peeling off.
Probably my fault as I had just changed the fluid and changed the short flexible brake lines in the middle of the system, but surprised it took all day to before the problem occured. Had a quick look earlier today and no visible leaks.
Going to put the Motul stuff in now anyway.
I've not had good experiences with the EBC green or red pads on other cars and when you tell them about it they just seem to advise getting the next colour up.
Finally got some lightweight wheels which should be arriving tomorrow.
Had a quick look at the vids earlier, can anyone recommend some decent video editing software because windows movie maker takes too long.
Cheers
Paul

Hope they make a similar difference to mine - it was really noticeable.

well +9kg each for Sebrings to 6.6kg for the Team Dynamics.

I think the SEAT 5-spokers are about 8kg

The tactile difference is huge.

Thanks. The differance in weight with R888's on is about 2.5kgs each over the standard ones with normal road tyres. Just wanted to make sure that this would make a noticeable differance.
I have read that each kg off of the wheels and tyres equates to 10 or 20 kgs off of body weight, but then you can also read a lot of crap on the internet.

Cheers

i've never had brake problems on any of my syncros once 280's were fitted, don't think i'm driveing that slowly or beeing that nice to the brakes

i went to the ring, did a couple of coomb sessions and goodwood on 15 euro ebay pads  and they were suprisingly good pads ( had other with me spare but chouldn't be arsed to change them over for a trackday they were fine so they got left on )

think i managed to fade them at bovvy
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
