I lasted 3 months with a passat estate 170 dsg. Got sooo fed up of being in a mundain car. It just had to be, and as has been said, get the Edition30,

It was a very costly mistake.Which i will not be repeating.

There is absolutley nothing on the market  that will be able to replace my current Red Edition30, for the same money and thats such fun,has multifuntional usage, and will happily keep my family of wife and 2 kids sorted .

Thanks for the advice guys. Decided to go the ED30 route, just need to sell my Mazda 6 MPS then start looking for the right car.

essentially, we've done exactly that.  Now have a mark5 gti and as u say it does everything, its easier to mod than the r32 at least in terms of output, and the Mark6 is in our view better looking, but an expensive car f u then want to add mods etc.   The R32 we had was DSG and to us, a bit boring.  Mark6 gti was uber cool (white, 3door, 18" monzas), and sold in a moment of madness for a 2006 RS4 avant.

cheers,
N&J.

Mark5 GTI (standard, but not for long!),  Porsche 996 turbo (many mods, 550 lb/ft, brakes, exhaust etc etc), Fiat Stilo (3 door and sexy!).

Past VW's....  Mark5 R32, Mark6 GTI.

I've had my MK5 GTI for a year now and have been toying with going back to an estate car again, as I've had loads of them in the past and they are so useful.

However, every time I start looking around it reinforces the fact that the MK5 GTI is such a brilliant all-rounder. It is hard to see what I would replace it with.

At present, the only car that is likely to tempt me out of the Golf is an S4 Avant 4.2 V8.

^^^ +1.

Although, did you know on the new 50-group insurance scheme, a S4 is the same group as an RS4?

Group 42, I believe  :nerd:

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?
