Awry, sorry to go OT, but what H&R suspension are you running? You say you're down 30mm, is that just springs then? How are you finding it?

Cheers,
Scott

Actually they are surprisingly comfortable for daily use. The ride don't feel harder at all to me and you can easily tell that the car rolls less in corners. The only downside is that the car will be about 30mm lower and thus more unpractical in some situations. I have DCC and the Comfort mode has a funny feel to it. The original springs also had this bouncy feel to it when in comfort mode but I think it's a tad more noticeable with the H&R springs. I definitely prefer normal and sport mode on the DCC but use comfort when the road is bad and during winter with ice and snow.

All in all I'm very happy with the H&R though as they provide a good balance between everyday use and sporty driving. They definitely improve cornering which is great especially here in Norway where the road is made entirely out of corners... Car looks better to me as well. Just enough so it looks cool and not stupid low. :) The H&R partnumber is 28988-1.

Nice, thanks. I'm just getting rid of my A3 which was on Weitec coilovers so I'm used to it being quite firm. I had it really low at one point but it was difficult to have any passengers lol. I want to lower the GTI when I get it (I've tried resisting - but it's too high) and wanted to avoid coilovers this time and save money if possible. So these springs sound like a good option. I take it you kept the standard shocks too? Cheers, Scott

Yes. I wanted to keep the DCC-system. The Koni-coils for DCC is really expensive. I'd rather save that money for my next car.

I guess in theory it could give better mpg as lighter and more efficient but doubt anyone buys them for that reason

I must say that the Milltek is by far the best mod that i have done to mine,
Done 30k now and the engine is loosening up nicely and had the Milltek on from 10k and the sound track just gets better with age

Yep I love my milltek. Really good quality and sounds great.

When my car is a bit older I may go for the downpipe and sport cat too but for now the cat back is great

Well I got my new Milltek fitted again today. I wasn't happy with the first one I got. I'm sure there had to be something wrong with mine. Anyway I got the opportunity to try out a new rear exhaust. Everything is the same except for the rear part. I also got a new rear bumper installed as someone managed to hit my car in the rear as I was standing still on a red light. Luckily only a small crack but now my car is "whole" again. :)

I'm very happy with the result it's very nicely built. The fit is perfect and it is also very compact so you don't have a big ugly box visible from the rear. The sound is very refined. There's just a refined deep growl from the bottom and the top has a nice sporty grunt. It sound very linear. The previous one I had sounded like a roller coaster ride. Suddenly the sound would increase up and down through the rev range. This new one I got sounded perfect. Very linear which what I was looking for. It's quiet for everyday use but still there's a hint of deep growl. When you go further up the rev it just gets better. Overall it's perfect for me as I still want a comfortable and quiet ride for everyday use but still have a sporty sound when I floor it occasionally. Very satisfied. :)
