ive purchased and started installing a gen vw electric window kit into my 1990 16v gti, ive currently got passenger window mech installed and powered up from battery to close it up. and have the wiring loom on passenger footwell, but ive no idea on how to connect it in to the fusebox. Is there anybody reasonbly close to me who could connect it up for me im in wiltshire and would pay your time travelling etc, ive tried a couple of autosparks neither are interested as its a factory fit loom blah blah. i just dont want to go messing with fusebox and cause a meltdown lol any help greatly received

i'm just over 80 miles.

chould do it no problem if you fancy driving it up to the workshop. or  if i was going to see DH on the IOW or when down in bristol  at some point choudl pop by and plug things in   on the way down   depends how urgent you want it done.

you should have 3 wires, live, earth and ign live. live & earth are easy, live plugs into a spade terminal on fusebox, earth to the earth claw above the fusebox. ign live feed needs to go to plug 'D', either 9 or 11 is factory. you'll probably have a random black ignition live wire hanging out of plug D join it to that.  have a read of my fusebox faq, should help clear this up for you.

if you dont have a relay and just have 2 wires, you'll only have ign live and earth. if so you can wire it up as above just ignore the bit about the live wire.  If it was me though I'd wire in a relay as per factory.

right theres a relay that would sit next to near window switches with 24 on it, then a red and brown that i think go to fusebox. the red seems like it has an inline fuse. but then theres a multiplug in green with 7 small wires 6 of them are doubled up and a single wire. yes i can drive the car hence why i havnt fitted drivers regulator yet,

hmm was it a 5 door kit? that plug could be for the rear window lockout switch...

as far as i know a 5door with heated seats and elec mirrors,

yeah could well be the rear window lockout switch,. will soon be able to see when you come over anyway
