I would definately keep the beemer.

I hated my 1.6 mk2 (loved it as a first car) but had so many problems with the weber carb it just wasnt worth it. Sold mine for £400 in the end. Tbh that mk2 looks like much more of a shed, yeah ok it has more bits (leather, rear lights, mirrors, wheels) than mine did, but it looks crap condition and possibly not very well looked after. I would avoid that at all costs. Drop the price of the bmw a bit and dont take any offers on it and you should easily be able to find a 1.6 if thats what your after or a 1.8 gti which i would think is more sensible. Lots of bargains to be had, but that mk2 looks like it could be more hassle than its worth!

Just my 2c :)

To me, if they can't even be @rsed to take all the cr@p out of it for pictures that's not a good sign.

I war a tit over Xmas and swapped my beautiful e36 cabrio for a dog rough and raped 300zx TT and still kick myself every night for doing it. I had the same trouble with no interest for a cash buy. Why not swap the inlet manifold from an m50 325 along with the throttle body and put the 325 outlet manifold and exhaust system on and gain 24bhp..... If you fancy this mate, I have a stainless heatwrapped manifold and standard manifold back with twin cats minus backbox left over from mine. BMW FTW plus yours looks as if you have priced it a bit too low. That mk2 is wretched! it would be like moving outta your house into a favelas!

I have heard about that modification to get more power, to be honest though I never drive it and she never puts her foot down. I have managed to get her to boot it right through the rev's once so far since she has owned it lol so it's probably fast enough for her.
170bhp standard aren't they?
