Suspension trouble
« on: 13 December 2004, 21:52 »
Hello.

Well my vw golf 1.3 is leaning to the drivers handside. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the coils or shocks.Has anyone ever had this problem?
What can be done?

Thanks.

vw 89 mk2 1.3

i suspect you got a worn/faulty spring get a new front pair and fit them see what happens. how much is it leaning?

well i would say a good bit. its about 3cm down on one side.
I noticed it today.bought the car over the weekend so im not realy used to all the parts in the thing.

How can a spring get worn? does it just drop down?

No to be a wise ar5e but was the last owner a really big person? I bought a car once that was owned by a bloke that was about 22 stones and it had a serious lean to the right.

Yours could be bumpstops and top mounts though.  :undecided:

probably blown shocks. had this problem with mine when i bought it.

top mounts will probaby need a change aswel

EDIT: mine was lowered badly, thats why the shocks blew up and sat in a wierd angle

shocks dont keep the car up tho. if you took the springs out it would be on the deck! i reckon springs. get a garage to look at it if you arent sure/confident/dont know

yeah, exactly.

if the car has had the engine out for any period of time the front springs can also stay a bit high, or sink when the engine is put back in. they have a mind of their own.

inspection time methinks

sounds like the top mounts (or a top mount!) to be honest
