Well ordered some HIDs4u Hids Kit on Thursday and took delivery of them yesterday. Got the H7 Bulb holders also that a few people said you need. But what a load of tosh, there is no way these will fit! The bulb holder thats in the Golf has the connection points you need when you power the bulb, when you twist the bulb holder into place, the connection points connect with another two, same way a plug and socket do. The bulb holders you get that are apparently for fitting aftermarket hids is just a bit of plastic moulded into the same shape with a hole in the middle. No way in hell of powering a bulb through plastic!   Have read a few people wirring up through batteries and having switches, capacitor, resisitors etc but am not going to start that!

Fitted some 1W 12v LED Sidelights, look amazing but getting a bulb out error!   Bloody new cars! Not sure if it makes a difference that the ordginal sidelights are 5w 12v? Ordered a new set of LEDs that are the same 5w 12v so see how that goes.

After realising that my HIDs are not going to fit, picked up some Ring Xenon Max 100% bulbs and they are so much better that standard, more whiter and crisper looking! Obvisouly they are never going to look like Xenons but compared to stock they look much better! Waiting on a set of MTECs Bulbs coming this week to try them out also, hear mixed reports on them.

Also took a trip to my nearest REVO dealer yesterday, his company went into administration and shut!!! Just to finish off a piss day for me! Getting behind the wheels of the Golf certainly makes me feel better though

Fair play to you for trying Kenny. I'm sure a decent kit will be made eventually that fits the mk6.

Totally different to the Polo mate, i think the Polo was still a wee bit quicker than the Golf, much more low down punch to it although did die off in the high revs where as the Golf just keeps pulling! But am sure a remap and the Polo wouldnt stand a chance!

Am I right in thinking H1 bulbs for the front headlight and H7's for the main beam?

Anyone fitted the Phillips Xtreme powers....? Any good? They seem to get good reviews. Was thinking of making this my first wee upgrade.

Thanks M

Dipped beam is H7 mate, sidelights are 501. To be honest unless you do do alot of night driving on back roads i would leave your full beam. Dipped beams on the other hand, i would change. The Ring Xenon Maxs 100 I fitted are much better and whiter looking! I fitted Phillips to my gf's Corsa and the Ring bulb are definetly brighter and much more clearer! Suppose thats not a fair test as it on two completely different cars. I will be fitting MTECs this week so will get pics up of them and and see how they go.

Thanks mate. You've convinced me (I've seen the light ) I'm going to go for Ring Xenon Max's now.... they seem to get very good reviews as well. I'll try and do some before and after shots as well.

Theres a thread somewhere about the xtreme blue visions being good too.

What we all want though is a replacement for the horrible yellow H15 DRL's!!!!!

The computer monitors the current to the lamps and as you have only 1W instead of 5W it will be using much less current, hence the bulb blown warning. Using the 5W should cure the problem. :nerd:
