For town driving the GTD + DSG would probably have suited me better. So much lighter on the wallet with just as good or even better mid-range acceleration. Too late now.

GTi or you will always regret it.

Looks better, goes better, sounds better and will turn heads.

I can get 45mpg cruising at 70mph all day long so economical as well when you want to be.

Besides the GTi is an icon, part of motoring history, that is what you are buying into.

GTD is just a diesel engine in a Golf at the end of the day.
Mk6 GTi - returned to leasing company after 3 great years and replaced with :

Mk5 GTi - Edition 30 - Revo 1 and some tweaks - 310 bhp. Its a better car than the Mk6  - Now sold and replaced with :

Mk6 R - Rising Blue 5 Door. Won't be standard 270bhp for long

Family Car : Mercedes ML420 with 360 bhp
Looking at Porsche Macan as replacement

disagree totaly!! Don't slag off the Gtd it's an awsome car let me tell you!! Don't mock it till you try it, yes a gti is lovely motor but in the current climate it's expensive to run ! By the way only differance is the engine it's exactly the same! Enjoy steve

But you have a white tail so you cannot be devilish in any way!
Seriously: I have now driven a GTD with DSG and it was impressive.

The DSG really suited the car very well indeed. They were meant for each other!
Was a great drive.

thanks guys stills seems to be a 50 /50 split,
if the golf had more bhp there would be only 1 choice.
also the beemer is automatic which is great and i would like dsg also, but i always found manual diesels better to drive even though the dsg box gets great views i feel it might be more suited to the gti-no??
