slow start and poor clutch in a mk4 tdi 115
« on: 01 May 2010, 17:52 »
This has proberly been covered loads of times somewhere on this site but gonna ask anyway, ive got a mk4 tdi 115
1. its a bit reluctant to start first thing, turns over fine just struggles the fire up after that is spot on.
2. when the clutch is pressed down it clicks and sometimes will do the same on the way up or just when driving along, also when i push it down first thing it is really stiff to get in gear like the clutch isnt pushed down atall it becomes easier as the car warms up.

Any fault codes present? Have you tried changing the glow plugs or the glowplug relay? With the gearbox i would try getting the oil changed to start off with.

I also found over the winter my car struggled to start but i had recently changed the glow plugs and it turned over fine i chnaged the battery and olla was perfect, if your glow plug sign stays on for a while its obvious them.

Just had a thourght on the gearbox issue mate, my brother which owns a bora 115 tdi had the exact same prob untill one day he cudnt select any gears :(, on inspection part of the gearlinkage had fallen apart, bascially 2 riviots had come loose and snapped off, they were re-rivioted and all was good. Give all the gearlinkage a good look over mate.
