VAG Trophy 2010
« on: 29 April 2010, 14:24 »
Just been sent over some information on this series:

Quote
2010 season.
The 2010 season kicks off at Brands Hatch GP circuit on May 23rd and visits come of the best club circuits in the country over the 6 rounds (possibly 7 if Donington is ready) of the series. The calendar is as follows :

May 23rd      Brands Hatch GP.
June 19th      Castle Combe.
August 21st   Cadwell Park.
September 11th   Oulton Park.
October 1st      Silverstone GP.
October 30th   Snetterton.

We are very pleased to report that the V.A.G. Trophy will be run in partnership with Motorsport Vision (MSVR) this year. We will be racing at the same events as some high profile Championships such as Britcar, GT Cup, and Formula Palmer Audi etc..

Types of Vehicle.
The V.A.G. Trophy was started to provide a place for all 2 wheel drive VW / Audi / Seat and Skoda vehicles to race each other (if introduced prior to 2006) . The inaugural season in 2009 attracted very varied grids including Seat Leon Cupras, Golf GTIs Mk1/2/3 & 5, Sciroccos, Ventos and a Corrado !. The 2010 season looks more varied still and should provide some spectacular racing based on power : weight ratio.

Which cars would be most suitable ?.
•   Seat Cupra Cup cars.
•   Ex VW Cup cars.
•   Track day cars (with the required modifications).
•   Modified road cars (with the required modifications).
•   Ex Vento Challenge / Polo G40 Cup / Slick 50 Road Saloon cars.

2010 Costs.
We continue our theme of providing the opportunity for very quick lap times at low cost. The registration fee is just £75 and race entries vary between £195 and £250 providing excellent value for money.

I'll be down at the Combe meet as the MKII Champ is also running that weekend there. Both the VAG Trophy and MKII CHamp are part of the MSVR series (used to be 750MC) but I don't think they always share the same venues on the same weekends.

Anyhoo, totally worth the trip to combe on that weekend. Races over the 2 days are as follows!

    *  Britcar GT & Production Championships
    * Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain
    * Ma5da Racing Championship
    * Nippon Challenge
    * MR2 Racing Series
    * VAG Trophy
    * Volkswagen Golf Series
    * Classic Clubmans Championship
    * Castle Combe FF1600 Championship
    * Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship
    * Castle Combe Sports & GT Championship

I see the gits have excluded the likely winning cars:

The series caters for 2 wheel drive vehicles from VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda introduced before 2006. We saw a very varied grid in 2009 and this looks set to continue.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
