What mods/upgrades have you done to your mk6's ?

No not mine, but same colour and model as my old Mk5  missing the sound but not the power, i need a louder exhaust 

Stop it all of you! I feel embarrassed by my noises and my moderate dimensions. What's that gay exprssion? Size queen! I know it's not the size of the ship that counts but the motion of the ocean. But, bloody hell, who wants a tugboat when you can get a battleship!

A word of warning on the Vwr alloys,
when i took mine to a paint supply place to match the colour they said that the alloys have just been painted a base colour  with no protection whatso ever, no laquer on them to protect from Uvs, brake dust etc, mine where very badly stone chipped showing like a yellowy primer and of course the kerbed one,
Bodyshop are now redoing them the same colour and putting a matt laquer over them for protection,
if  i was you i would get them laquered before they start to chip etc 
couldn't believe how bad they where until i took them off and had a closer look, for the money you pay for them you would of thought they had protection on
Good job i have the winter wheels to use while they sort this problem out,

I assumed they’d be a nightmare with the finish and the spoke design.
I have a set of 18” BBS CHs in an Anthracite powder coat for my winter wheels, so the VWR wheels only have to last until the back end of the year, and I’ll be having them done the same finish.
Gloss powder coat is easier to look after than anything else.

Well, my scales must read differently to yours...I got:
12.55Kg for a single bare VWR wheel (19")
11.25Kg for a single bare BBS CH (18")
12.7Kg for a single bare Monza (18") but made by Ronal, not BBS.

Maybe the BBS/Ronal difference is in the weight?

12.55Kg for a single bare VWR wheel (19")
11.25Kg for a single bare BBS CH (18")
12.7Kg for a single bare Monza (18") but made by Ronal, not BBS.
Maybe the BBS/Ronal difference is in the weight?

I may depend on whether they are the BBS versions or the Ronal versions.

I measured 12.7Kg for a Ronal 18" Monza (shadow, II, whatever it's called)
Snoopy got 12Kg.

This means the Ronals are 5.83% heavier than the BBSs. It could also mean the Ronals are probably cheaper and that's what VW would have fitted!


PS: I read somewhere that the Monza Shadows were also called Monza IIs, so there is a possibility that mine may be BBSs.

On the back, cast into the back of one of the 'spokes' (the bit between the holes) will be either BBS or Ronal.
The one I weighed was Ronal.
The majority of Mk5 Monza 18"s I have seen have been BBS.

The 17 and 18 were not measured by me they were measured by redrobin on freshly calibrated measuring scales.
The VWR wheel is a quoted weight from the manufacturer.
