Autosmart G101 or Meg's APC
« on: 23 April 2010, 19:59 »
What are you all cleaning with your APC's ? These things seem to have 101 uses (Pardon the autosmart pun) and I want to make sure I am getting the most out of the Autosmart G101 in particular as that's what I use.

Currently I use it for the dash plastics, rubber seals, door shuts and the plastic where the exhausts are (its name escapes me now) stuff like that.

My plans are to also mix it with my snowfoam when I want to strip the wax layer off and also to give the engine a little clean up too.

I just got a 5 litre tub of Autosmart G101 from my work for free so I'll be interested to see everything I can use it for too.

Hasn't been much interest in this.

I was hoping to find out if G101 is safe to use on MonzaII wheels? And if so what should the dilution ratio be?

I perosnally don't use 101 anymore (not that there is anything wrong with it but I have returned to Autoglym PM3 which is my fave) but I use APC to clean just about everything (within reason).

APCs (or all purpose cleaners) are great for for cleaning mucky interiors, exteriors, wheels, engine bays etc.  Just be sure to test first and dilute accordinly (obviously weaker mixes for interiors etc).

I found 101 had a lot more 'bite' that the Autoglym product which meant it was better for mucky jobs.

Hope this helps
Jason

G101 is safe to use on wheels, mix 80 to 100ml of g101 with 500ml of water, aggitate re-apply if needed then wash off, dont let it dry on there though

Monza 2's (the diamond cut ones) are very susceptible to the dreaded white worm.

They are so easy to keep wax and sealed I personally would never use an APC or wheel cleaner on them once you have got them looking good.

Just apply a sealant regulalry and the dirt/brake dust will just wash off.

you'd have difficulty getting hold of some TODAY.. but you can get hold of some through GolfDan very quickly via this thread

personally I use G101 for a lot of uses, as a TFR/Wax remover when I mean business , or engine bay cleaner, wheel arches, interiors, dash, head linings, plastics, stain removal, I even use it in my home (great on tiles but not food safe)...

for a TFR I prefer hazsafe.. non-caustic and no risk of spotting on window rubbers etc

thanks for that, i was hoping to give it a right good doing today as i had the time, but as usual i leave things to the last min.

looks like its gonna be fairy liquid in a bucket and get the brushes out.
