Sand Blasting kit - Advice Please

I've been toying with the idea of getting a sand blasting kit, i.e. sandblaster and compressor to clean up parts when they're off the car before respraying.

I came across this on ebay:

I was wondering if this would be up to the job of cleaning rust and paint off the subframe for example prior to painting? Would I be better off with a bigger/more powerful compressor?

I dont know much about this so if anyone could advise that would be great....

Yes I do realise I could just put parts into be powder coated but with the amount of parts I'd like to do I was considering this as a potentially cheaper alternative/long term use investment.

Without a cabinet/extraction you will have dust in every nook and cranny in your workshop.
Extraction is very important as well as breathing apps if you intend to use it in the "garage".
You need to use the right medium for the type of finish required or the material being treated.
Thick gloves for static protection etc etc

Do a bit of research before you buy, I will see if i have any info knocking about as i have bought several proffesional set ups before for part cleaning

with that size compressor i would be surprised if it ran it fine for a while.

and as said, you either need to do it in a sand pit outside. or in a sealed place which can end up sandy lol.

Those things are painfully slow, and your money would be better spent by taking a big box of bits to your local media blasting company. and spending 1/3 of your hard earned instead

I had a feeling that would be the case....I've done a bit more reading up on this and it seems like its one of those cases again where you get what you pay for - i.e get a professional kit which costs a lot or dont bother

a local company near me has all my parts,£10 to chemical strip or £10 to sand blast a wheel,i just dropped of my rear beam a set of springs, caliper hangers and stub axles dipping them all and oxide primer £40 . takes them 2 days from when i drop them off and they have all the mess not me.i find it a lot easyier and leaves me to do other things.were as it would take a few days for me to get them to that state with manual labour. when they come back i spray them up and ready to fit .
