engine stalling after rocker cover gasket change
« on: 25 November 2004, 18:17 »
changed my rocker cover gasket today as it was leaking badly.

now ive connected and fitted everything back as it should be but the car keeps stalling. This must mean there is an air leak?

i cant see any problems?

changed the gasket for a rubber one if this helps with an ideas?

first make sure you did it right there is an order to tightening the bolts and yes they need to be set to the correct torque but no clue what that is maybe haynes or bentleys might help sorry

yer sorry
its not that important
but basically start with the middle and the do one on either side till you get them all

cant recall the number of bolts but i think its either 8 or 10

                                         8 6 1 3 9
                                       10 4 2 5 7

think of each hole as a number also might sound silly but check the gasket is the right way up i no on cylinder and sump its got something like umbo or top on it to say thats the top but there all differnt.

you would be suprised at the amount of ppl that have it wrong even worse when they do it on the head gasket and put the engine back together :S

hope it works if not check where its leaking and examine the gasket for a reason sometimes if the the old gasket breaks or deteriates you get bits of it stuck around the edges.
