Maybe people should know why this thread has been started for the mk6.

There has been at least 2 letters in Autoexpress in the past week from owners of Mk6 Golfs who previously owned mk5s or other VW products. Who are complaining about how soft the paint is on mk6 Golfs and how easy its chipped.
The magazines own red Golf GTD is suffering too, and the coments in the magazine in the long term review weekly updates is what sparked people writing in.
Autoexpress has also comented on the soft easy chipped paint finish of the facelifted SEAT Leon FR they have (Orange) and how owners of the car on seatcupra.net are also complaining.

Will VW not just point you all to the new EU legislations though about having to use waterbased paints on cars?  From some of the other forums i frequent, it isn't much different on Honda's or BMW's either.

Me thinks this thread will end up as the longest one ever as it will run and run until we sell our pockmarked Mk6s!

I also wonder how many re-sprays will take place. Another thread a bit later on?

Good thinking Steve for starting this and Snoops with your last post for clarifying the situation

Let the floodgates open!

Well as some of you know I've been having probs with my paint. I've started talking to my dealer about it and will keep you posted how that goes. I'm meeting again with the head guy at the dealership tomorrow.

Good to know there's a few of us able to support each other with having this problem cause individual cases would be hard to get anywhere with.

Add me to the list.

Now look at this!
This is a '59 plate 5 door Golf Mk6 TSi in Carbon Grey and the brown stuff is not all mud!
In fact, I think, 80% of this has ended up as a paint problem on both sides!
I had a good look and feel!
