I am still contemplating a remap.
Why does the ABT remap cause twice as much when compare with Revo or Bluefin????

Basically, because they are greedy bustards!
You really don't know how indepth each companies research goes though. Your paying for the program and the development and testing time. I get this at work all the time in my job from customers as most our machines now use PICs to control alot of things we use to do with OPAMPS the circuits are so much smaller but the programs can be quite complex.

If I wanted a re-map Abt would be my 1st choice most probably and for the reasons in the article and your reasons. I would never REVO. My second choice would be Bluefin probably at a third the cost.
But I still think Abt is way too expensive and I would try and knock the price down!

I got my map on the cheap for £250 quid. The guy came recommended from my stealer when I mentioned to them mapping might be an option.

Several things about it:

1. It totally transforms the car. At the start I wasn't sure I liked it because the car felt almost too fast (wheelspinning all the time) and the added torque made my girlfriend feel a bit sick lmao. Now we are completely happy with it. I don't know if I would still be able to go back to a normal GTI power output and be satisfied.

2. Fuel consumption hasnt changed a bit. Still getting good fuel when driving gently and bad when driving not so gently.

3. The map I reckon is a bit more powerful than he quoted. He said 260bhp as a minimum but a few of us now reckon its more. Still waiting for a nice RR day to get it checked.

All in all the map is quite delicious. Although ABT is a bit expensive. My recommendation would be Bluefin. A few folk seem not so happy with REVO and also Bluefin allow freedom to change the map on and off as you choose. Although I wouldnt ever take it off!

I had Revo on my MK5 and although the extra power was great / a massive difference, I found it all came on in one lump low down the rev range. The power curves on Revo's website were consistant with this. Also it almost felt as though it was being overfulled (like your foot was still on the accelerator when you removed it on the Motorway for example). That said a lot of people are very happy with Revo so..

I like the look of the power curves on the Bluefin website. Very close match to the standard car and looks more progressive. That and the reasonable price / flexability to remove it when you like means they'll get my money next time.

Unfortunately the weak pound isn't helping any.

Why do you want to practice coitus interruptus?
If you can get 260 why settle for 240.

Nowadays you can even go as far as 600 BHP that is not the question...
The reprogramming without "mechanical adjustments" goes as far as that....mind you this GTI is actually quick enough for me (cannot believe I said that)....meaning already an improvement over my MK V

Maybe he rings to day....I have told myself NOT to contact him in order not to ruin a coming deal....

does not matter who you visit.. revo, apr, abt, supersh!ts - 260/270hp is the max you will get with a remap alone

you want anymore than that and you will need to start upgrading intakes, exhaust and eventually turbo. Plus all the extras such as brakes, suspension so you can handle the extra power...

if ABT guarantee that your VW warranty will remain in tact then that is what you are paying the extra for and imo is worth it, but I would double check the small print as if it is anything like supersh!ts then its not worth the paper it is written on

but Erik if they have offered this to you for free then what you fannying about for get it done you wet paper bag
