Please Gibby - cheers matey ...

And if it's the gasket I'm gonna cry !  :'(

All the money I'd saved for getting my design 90's polished and the adapters is gonna be wasted !

As said above those symptoms could be EITHER the Oil Cooler or Head Gasket, when the HG went on my G40 that is exactly the same as what has happened to your car, including the loss of oil. The pressure of the oil forces the oil into the water without allowing the water to go the other way. I knew it was the HG though as G40s dont have an oil cooler.

Either way, you better familiarise yourself with coolant system flushing, coz you're going to be doing quite a bit of that in the near future. That mayo'd oil sticks like sh1t to a blanket.

For the people who were following this thread ....

Turned out to be I popped the oil cooler not the head gasket THANK GOD !!

Ended up paying a local guy (who's the fecking nuts btw) as it was gonna take ages (let alone the mess it would make) to flush the cooling system out.

?150 all in all with genuine VW bits, so I'm well pleased  ;D

I just had exactly the same problem with mine. It to turned out to be the oil cooler. Flushed the cooling system but kept on getting cream sludge in expansion tank for a week or two after. Sorted now though just
