- How easy are they to install and what parts do you need?

- Any error messages on the OBC?

- Are there different versions of the light units (adaptive, static, auto highbeam, etc)?

- Is everything contained in the headlight units, or do you need to buy and install the ballasts and other gizmos separately (if so, where are these located in the engine bay)?

- Are the connectors the same as those on the standard halogen lights, or do you need adapters?

TIA

P.S. as I have the winter package, I already have the washers in the bumper

I have retro-fitted them but they are with the standard lenses and not projector lenses. All 3 beams have been done. They are a bit brighter and 'look' better. Total cost £435. Took 5.5 hours to install professionally. You need to have the headlight washers and manual self-levelling feature already available to make them 'legal'.
IMO, best to go for the original VW ones with the projector lenses and self levelling feature (dancing). But this will be comparativelyexpensive. I can't give you all the technicalities. It was a big job which involved wiring looms, power supplies etc. and the use of a laptop.
I might at a later stage get the self-levellers installed (if I can be bothered) which can be purchased from KUFATEC at a cost of Euro 290 for cars with adaptative dampers. Wish I had ordered VW Xenons when optioning the car. One lives and learns.
In order not to feel too bad I say to myself that I saved approximately £700.
Are these worth it? This judge is still out!
Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Thanks for your reply, but I really want the genuine OEM xenon headlight units rather than just the 'bulbs'.

You can find brand new original VW units on the German eBay for about £700 a pair, but I need to know if they are plug & play, or a pain to install.

They are a pain, from what I observed, as you have to install new wiring looms and power supplies.
And then they might bugger up the VW electrics! Use of a laptop probably needed.
Can you imagine the drama that will ensue!
Best to get them installed professionally unless you are a dab hand, which you seem to be.
I, myself, am quite hopeless at these sort of things.
I regret my original meanness when I ordered the car.
