Xenons
« on: 02 April 2010, 14:18 »
Well I've had the car since July but didn't realise that the GTI has adaptive headlights.

My xenons go through a little warm up routine every time I switch on but I don't think that they move when cornering as some other xenon owners seem to indicate.

Can someone guide me in the right direction so that I can check if mine do move with the car.

Thanks

Gizzy

Hi

As soon as you switch on the ignition the lights go up and down and out to the side then back in.  It's a dead neat trick and gets plenty of attention from other drivers.

Thanks for the info will go out and try it soon.

I will have to check mine, as mine i don't think seem to do that. This might explain the strainge 2 long beeps and a relay click under the bonnet after i turn the car off.

Best option I have spec'd for the car, the Xenons make me dribble sex wee. That trick that they do with the side movement and up/down movement at start up is well good, and as Gizzy says you do get lots of looks.

I can confirm mine do move as I'm turning corners and dip etc as i go up and down hills. I didnt have to set anything in the MFD maybe mine were already set.

Well I've had a look in the handbook and it says car has to be travelling at 10kph and on dipped beam then they will light up on cornering etc, so will have to go for a run after dark and give them a test.  Cheers Kev

I better check mine then as i cannot see it when in the car. With them against the garage door for example.

I'm surprised you can't see them working from inside the car mate- I can from mine so it sounds like they're not working ?

Snoopy

If you can't see them working from in the car then they can't be working, I can see mine in the bumper of a car parked 4 feet away from mine.  You can't miss their little routine it's ace.
