Timing Belt change

what mileage should the timing belt be changed at on a Mk5 Golf GTI???  someone told me after 4yrs/60000 miles??

You'll get loads of threads with different answers! Time, mileage all vary!

Every 4 years/40k seems to be the rationale on here.

yes. You are correct 4yrs or 60k miles, whatever comes first.

It's actually 4yrs or 120k miles (for the ed30 anyway) - been discussed lots.

Didn't believe it myself, so I phone the dealer who confirmed it.

LOL, I agree, but it's also written down in my handbook - I thought maybe they'd got miles and kilometers mixed up, but no, apparantly it is 120k miles.

I will be replacing mine at 80k miles.

To do 120k in 4 years you would have to do 80 miles a day which I doubt no one does in an ED30.

Mine had 32k miles on it when I bought it and it was not far over a year old!

And still on the original set of Michelins at the front!
