Hello new golf person here.

Hello,just got an 06 2.0 gt tdi 140.

Went to an auction with an open mind and six grand burning a hole in me pocket and came away with the black beauty,a 5 door jobby with 120000 miles!

Dunno if I got a bargain or they saw me coming a mile off.All the other 06 stuff was going through at way less, focus and astras for around 3200 and bigger cars like vectra and mondeo for about the same but all with reasonable 4 year old mileages (29000 to 700000).

There was a 1.9 56 plate with 45000 miles a bit further up the queue which I was tempted to hang on for but I followed this one into the bear pit and stuck my hand up when the bidding stalled at 5800.

I drive for a living and know that intergalactic mileages don't always spell trouble,Iv'e had more bother from cars that I use for the daily 10 mile stop start commute than i've had from the car derived vans I drive that clock 45000 miles a year.

So I'm hoping this golf will last. There is a whistle from the turbo (I think) that sounds a bit like you are being followed by a police car but apart from that it seems very straight.Paintwork seems ok,wheels are shocking really for a 4 year old car and I don't know how premium makes like vw get away with it,if I had this on a rickshaw I would be banging the counter at VW Mumbai.

Got a full service book though and a printout detailing all the work that's been done so it looks like the lease company who were the first owner have had all the stamps done at the right time.

This looks like a great forum with a real depth of knowledge, hope the car goes the distance.

Welcome to the forum, provided it's looked after shouldn't have too many probs. VW's in general seem to work best when they're used daily.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.
