I think im going to have to switch my DRL's off. Ive been flashed twice this week, once by some bloke waving at my lights and also been approached in my car by some old granny "youve got your lights on!" in tesco car park.
Are your DRLs Xenons?
No just standard DRL's
Seem to get more attention now the weather is nice, didn't get any attention when it was gloomy and dull!

Nobody bats an eyelid in London. But then they would not even notice a dead body in their path.
My lights are retro-fitted Xenons including the foglights. The DRLs will be Xenons this weekend too! Will post some pictures once all is completed.

My DRL's are xenons
I got flashed at and by someone else peeped at today because other road users thought my front and rear lights were on in the bright sunlight   :embarassed:

Who are these people? They need to keep up with the times and read EU Directives. They can flash me all they want (they have not yet as there are tons of cars with DRLs in London) 'cause I aint switching off for anyone!

I forgot to do that today as its what i normally do.
The guy who peeped was behind me and was pointing to the lights.

So what if they were on? Why are these people so concerned and trying to be good Samaritans?
I just cannot see the problem, Snoops. Maybe they want to pick you up!
Let's get them all tooting and flashing!

The daylight running lights can be switched off by the dealer, but my VW dealer won't. Has anyone else had this? Bizarre really considering its not law and the implementation on the non xenon cars is poor as they are just dipped beam, not proper LEDs. In this age of energy saving why not stick the lights on all day to burn more fuel!!

The value of daytime running lights is also highly questionable. When all cars have them people will become so used to them that they don't 'increase' visibility at critical times such as near dusk driving.  :undecided: :undecided:I think they look stupid during daylight hours. :undecided:

You can switch the DRLs off yourself as mentioned elsewhere.

Ignition Off
Light switch to 0
Hold the indicator stalk down and towards you.
Turn on the ignition and wait for a confirmation beep.

To turn them on again

Ignition Off
Light switch to 0
Hold the indicator stalk up and towards you.
Turn on the ignition and wait for a confirmation beep.

This works for Halogens but I don't think it works for Xenons.

wow Mike, thanks for the tip. Mine are lowly Halogens, so I'll try when I pick the car up next week
