That seems to be a topic for debate here as some people reckon it's only for new cars built after the specified date ?

It surely must be, as I can't see everyone with a car built before then having to rush into a garage and have a set of DRL's fitted.  Most modern cars could have them enabled by software, but there must be plenty of older cars still going around that would need actual lights fitted.

Also VWs current Daytime running lights don't meet the EU law. (excluding the R)
I would not mind just the fronts on but the backs too

Even if they cannot be turned on again after turning them off i can always just turn my headlights on as it looks the same to me.

If I wasn't going to have LED front DRL's, I'd have the normal ones turned off.  They just look a bit 'Volvo' when the headlights are on all the time.  :lipsrsealed:

How come they don't conform? What would they need to be like to conform to the law?

With you on the Volvo comment. Like Snoopy, I've resorted to driving with the side lights on but that means you've got the red mood lighting etc on all the time...
I'll give Wayside a bell this week if I don't hear anything from them before then.

Well I should have suspected as much.. My "new" contact at Wayside hasn't got back to me either.. So much for his email the other week saying if I had any questions, just to ask him and he'd be happy to help.. I may have to go around there as soon as I can as they only seem to act on anything when you're physically there

I haven't had a chance to go to the other dealer yet- unfortunately it's not around the corner from me- but I sub-consciously keep an eye out for other new golfs and they mostly seem to have their lights on all the time as well.

Anyone else had any luck ?

I think im going to have to switch my DRL's off. Ive been flashed twice this week, once by some bloke waving at my lights and also been approached in my car by some old granny "youve got your lights on!" in tesco car park.

No just standard DRL's

Seem to get more attention now the weather is nice, didn't get any attention when it was gloomy and dull!
