Author Topic: Still limited to 5000rpm, timing etc all done today!!!!!!!!  (Read 1755 times)

Hi all

Ok had mechanic re-do timing and flywheel etc all lined up as it should and then he put it on Vag Com and it came back faulty Hall sensor. He canceled this out and I took it for a drive got it to rev ova 5000rpm into the 6plus but then after a short time it went back to 5000rpm. He canceled it again and again it was fine for a short time then it went back to 5000rpm again. The mechanic said mite be a fault on the manufacture with the Gsf dizzy as this is the second one i have had of them in 6 months. Also he said it might be the ECU that could be playing up. Or could it be that I need to keep turning the dizzy until it finds it's self if you know what i mean. Any thought's any1 pls.

ECU fault is pretty unlikely, i would say it has to be the Hall or the wiring for it, have you had the wiring checked yet??

i dont think ive ever revved to 5000 let alone over 6000. Whats the point? there is no power there. Unless of course you have a valver

Hi Ben , no mate not had the wiring checked buddy, do you mean the wiring from the hall sensor matey.

do golfs have a maf sensor?

a mates astra van had this problem and it was the maf sensor.

if its got pistons or tits, either way its gonna be expensive

yeah stevo I would check the wiring to the hall sensor, and also check for play in the dizzy drive I mentioned by grabbing the rotor arm and try turning it back and forth like rocking but in the circular direction, there should be no play whatsoever, any play there will cause timing errors.

Hi Scott, thats ok matey, thanks for all your help and advise buddy. I will have my mate check the wiring tomoz he is a auto elect too..lol and I will give the dizzy a wiggle hehe.

Ok, went to the VW main dealers today as my mate works there he put the car on the Vac com for FREE and it came up with the cam shaft sensor code 00515 and the Oxygen sensor control upper limited stop value intermittent code 00537.

Now I'm on my 2 dizzy in 6 months so don't think it's the dizzy, do you think the timing could still be out by a tooth. Or a faulty wire, any ideas anyone pls.

If the timing is set up correctly, dizzy positioned correctly and its still saying the hall sensor(cam position sensor) after replacing the dizzy then it must be the wiring/connector to the hall sensor..

Also if your getting the oxygen sensor fault as well, then you cant really clean them, so really that might need replacing as well... How does it tick over ?

It ticks over at 900 spot on. The oxygen sensor is that Lamba sensor dude the code reads 00537 Oxygen Sensor Control Upper Limit stop Value intermittent. Thanks.
