I have a CW Gti and I must say I am not impressed at all with how easy the paint chips. Have several on the front bumper where the black primer/plastic shines through. Have a few on the bonnet as well and the gray undercoat is fully visible. Car is at 53000 miles (8500 km).
I had a black golf prior to this one and I had chips but nowhere near this amount. Prior to that a blue metallic Saab 9-3...almost no chips at all. The CW is way too soft and they should have given it a few more layers of paint.

I have never heard of this Swedish manufacturer CW.

CW = Candy White but I guess you already knew that ;)

I was not sure whether it was a typo or Swedish for for V or something else! I should have re-read your post more carefully. Sorry.

No worries, can see why the US "jargon" made you confused ;)

Back to the topic.

I think the standard colours for the GTI's, red, white, black...VW have them looking great. I've only ever really liked the pearlesant paints anyway and have never really been a metalic lover. As for protection, that laquer finish will be a ba5tard should it get scratched, mine got scratched and its looking fine now, Id probably never got it looking as good should I have had the lacquer finish. With the right care, attention and some good old detailing, a standard colour car can be protected pretty decently I'd say.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.
