p3eps did anyone ever get back to you re using the cable on another laptop?
Otherwise what would stop say 10 of us getting together and buying the lead and sharing it between us?
A bit of a pain but at least you would have access to it

You can use the lead with ANY laptop providing you download the software from Ross Tech

The license is built into the lead itself

I've used my lead on several laptops with no problems whatsoever

I was thinking something similar, cause what would happen if your laptop is stolen, or it dies, or you sell it or upgrade etc.

Is a 'genuine key USB cable' a different thing to my 'Micro Can USB'.

I couldn't see why the cable couldn't be used on other computers, but the thread suggested different!

Micro CAN will only work on CAN cars such as the MK5 and MK6

HEX-USB will do all the older cars and the newer stuff too so if you got mates you can pimp out your services in exchange for beer tokens

If i fit the led lights will they work ok ? until i get chance to get them coded, will it just show an error on the mfd
