Service Interval
« on: 20 March 2010, 19:40 »
Mine is on 5.5k at the moment, service indicator is showing a service due in 8.2 k or 333 days.

13.7 altogether. At a guess this will be 14 months from new.

I've got the VW 3 year service plan for £250, just wondering if this is a ploy to get out of the third/3yr service as at this rate my car won't ask for a third service until 39k. Approx 3 1/2   -  4 years at this rate.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Have it switched over to time/distance service if your worried. Then it will be done every 10,000mile or 1 year which ever comes first.

Yeah, I did ask for that when ordering, so was wondering.
Mistake on the part of my perfect 'so far' dealer I guess.

my first service interval was 19k miles, so looks like it depends on what sort of mileage its been doing

If its on the £250 3 year plan you get it done every year on the anniversary of the day you picked it up.You will probably have to contact the dealer as they won`t be so keen to contact you due to the fact you have paid upfront and got a reduced rate.
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

^^^ Do this anyway. It'll keep it sweeter! :afro:

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I intend to get mine done every year/10'000miles. ive got a feeling that the dealer hasn't changed it from longlife to time & distance so i'm just going to wait to around the 9500 mark and book it in, if it doesn;t show up as needing a service.

I think they all come from the factory set to longlife...?

There's plenty of debates on T&D vs LL and each to their own, but I'm firmly in the T&D camp with some extra preventative maintenence thrown in too! :afro:
