MP3/ AUX plug in on head unit?
« on: 18 March 2010, 17:49 »
Ive finally got my MP3 Plug-in sorted and run the cable etc. My question is:

How do I programme the Gamma headunit to turn on the AUX input? Its plugged in via the cd changer bit, but can't figure it out!!

Any help

Thanks

Should be a case of using the cd button.

Should be a case of using the cd button.

With no cd in, press the cd button, it beeps and reads no cd then skps back to radio. Press select on the cd part and the changer light flashes the again, goes back to radio.

That's definately the way. I have the tape and cd units and my cable is connected into the cd changer slot. I press the CD button and on comes my ipod music! I think initially i had to press the select button.

Are you using an ipod?

Thing is, i can control my ipod through my stereo buttons, even though it's not the official vw cable.

I've never heard of a cable for other mp3 players  :undecided:

This is the aux lead I have got, its just a phono/3.5mm jack so should work.

Just need to figure out how to switch the aux input on. Ive tried everything. Press the cd button and it plays the cd. press select and the cd chnager light comes on for a second or two, the switches back to the left hand cd light. Im very confused

you shouldn't need to. The cable you fitted is just a covertor. The stereo should think that a cd changer is connected. Puzzled by this....?

Tucker - do you have a cassette radio and single disc CD player in the dash aswell as a cd changer in the boot?

If so you'll need to disconnect the changer from the back of the single CD player and then select Changer on the front of the single disc player.

I have only the cassette/radio and the single cd in the dash, no changer in the boot. For some reason it just won't switch to the chnager function. Ive had somebody have a look at it and still nothing. I'm seriously baffled too...

Maybe the lead from awesome automotive is faulty?

Not sure on what to do now!
