After discovering that the spring had fallen off one of the rear drum self adjuster thingymajingymabitmabobs and me managing to dick it up trying to fix it. A guy came, sorted and now I have a handbrake that doesn't reach for the sky anymore.

I also just came back from dropping a gurl off.

Apart from the layers of filth and crap covering my engine engine bay and a pinpoints of rust on the bonnet and passenger door my Vento is perfect. 14 years old and not a single issue  Power steering belt is on the way out but it still works just fine and it's an easy change anyway

if u think these threads are downbeat mate, check out the beemer and merc forums!

btw - I have a 6.5 year old Audi A4 20vT sport quattro (new shape -ish ), the steering is wooden as a coppers truncheon, it guzzles petrol worse than the VR6, and a year ago the engine sludged up despite full dealer services and only 54k on the clock.....the top end went bang and they want up to £3000 for a good recon engine. Did I mention its a barge? lol.

It was nearly £40,000 new.

And....i'm not the only one on the AudiForums that its happened to - one guy only got to 18k miles. They wont extend the engine warranty in the UK, only the good ol' US of A.....

Nothing is immune from problems mate ;) Hello - old VW

I do!  Just changed my crank sensor and the car is vastly improved on a quick test drive.  Gave it a bath too.

Crank wires had got damaged..   http://javalins.wordpress.com/2010/03/13/dodgy-sensor-wiring/

As the newest of these cars (mine!) is a minimum of 12 years old - they've warn well.  Forums generally get all the problems though.

I love my GTI.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
