Got the golf to start yesterday after a week off the road. Was driving the wifes 1.6 zetec focus for the week to get me by. Blasted the golf to my usual game of ball last night and the smile was back on my face. Alot of probs with the car, it is 15 years old now so its to be expected but feel happy when im in it. Thats my good news

I have some...well...it depends how you look at it!   Hopefully, if all goes to plan, I'll be selling my 8v Gti to my dad...and buying something faster/newer.  I am leaning towards a 99-02 Audi S3 at the moment, after deciding against a VR6 Corrado or Golf.  I believe that the post 2000 S3's are 225HP standard, with so much tuning potential...and a far lighter engine than a V6.

I've loved my Black MK3 8v GTi, it's never gone wrong...but after having it for 3 years now, I want something more powerful and more modern.  I like the look of the S3 Audi, they are 4WD and go like stink...and so much more power to be had out of the engine. Hell, a simple remap and your looking at at least 265HP...bigger turbo, pipes & intercooler and you're up to the mid 300's.  Sounds like I'm sold already...

Can any of you suggest something similar...for under £5500?   I was looking at a SEAT Cupra R too...same engine, cheaper body...

P.S.  Don't mean to hijack the thread....

Full exhaust system/remapped/Air-Filter...mmm...and thats it for now...  PS- Must change this picture! Its too big and due to a speed bump under my rear right wheel, the front right looks like its in the air  ><
