Mk3 with a different front?
« on: 05 March 2010, 18:53 »
I've seen a few Mk3's with what appears to be a different spec front.

Kinda square bonnet, different grill and rectangular lights type thing going on?

How?

Its called a Vento front end mate, People take the front end parts from the vento like bonnet, lights, grill etc... and slam them on their golfs :)

Quite common on the mk3's!

It is very similar to the bora front end for the mk4!

Looks good depending on whos asking :)

There is a pic of a blue MK3 at the bottom of page 56 of members cars.

So its just the Mk3 Vento/jetta bonnet and headlights?

Any mods required?

Bonnet, lights and grill. All just swap over bolt off bolt on.

I believe that style of grille is the earlier type. VR6 Joe has one for sale in this style. Check the classifieds section Mate.      Cheers      Deano

As said above, it's a Vento front end.

All you need is the grill, headlights, and the bonnet. Don't let people fool you by telling you that you need to change the slam panel and bumper because it's simply bullsh!t.

The grill you're after is an early spec grill. There were three types, early (2 bars either side of VW badge), middle (1 large bar either side of the VW badge), and late (looks more like a Polo!). The early one is by far the best looking one and is getting harder to come by now so therefore worth a lot of dollar! I've seen the grill alone sell for as much as £120, I sold mine for £75 I think (Thanks anyway Deano!), but if it helps, they were only on the 1993/1994 cars.

Unfortunately a Corrado front end wouldn't fit as it's a completely different design/setup altogether

So just to clarify the Mk3 (1992-1999) Vento bonnet and light fittings were the same regardless of year, its just the grills that were different?
