Vento front-end on Golf - Universal fitting?
« on: 22 February 2010, 16:51 »
Hi all,

I was wondering whether or not the fitting for the Vento hood, grill and lights would fit straight onto a Golf. More importantly, would the light/power connectors be the same?

Thanks!

Yes, though the light connectors will be different if your Golf had the two chamber lights. The connectors from the Vento should plug right in though

And that's just to get the lights to fit onto the slam panel! Don't be forgetting the custom fabrication to the wings and bonnet, aswell as the technical wiring harness adapters, and the fact the lights won't sit right with the Golf bumper. I have a Vento bumper in my shed if you want it?

F**k me, that was a nightmare. Those clips just don't like to push in, unless you modify the slam panel a little, with an angle grinder, or hacksaw. Did you have any probs with yours Mike?

I changed mine back but was a lot of work. New slam panel, new bonnet, new wings, new wiring loom all the way back to the fusebox, new grill, new headlights, new bumper, I'd never do it again personally.

Don't listen to them jokers

You need to cut a few parts of the slam panel away to fit the grill and headlights, and you need the vento front crossmember and subframe.

The lights are as shep said, if they are single chamber, straight in, if not then you need to re-wire all the headlight look with the vento unit and it is advisable to stick relays on it too.

You need vento bonnet, headlights and grill.

But what shep said about the lights is true tough
