Clearing Washer Jets

Any help much appreciated.

How the **** do you clear the jets on the mk 5 golf? The passenger side one has suddenyl reduced to a thin dribble rather than a big mist/spray.

There's a screw next to it, but don't want to do anything in case it's the wrong thing!!

screw just changes the direction.....

I gave up and spent £12 @ VW on some new ones (different design from my 05 - use a torx adjuster instead of a screw)

imho, by FAR the weakest point of the car's design.

However, you can take em off and soak in hot water - this does the trick for a while anyway.

One of my jets reduced to a dribble.  Tried blowing it out and soaking it but no joy.  Ended up getting it replaced under warranty.

They are clipped into the underside of the bonnet and just pull out.  Then you just need to disconnect the water pipe.

Remove the black plastic cover and the washer jet just pulls off with a pair of pliers.  Remember to point the jet away from the high level brake light when refitting.

Thanx to all - I got the jet off. Water coming through to the pipe, washed and poked about with the jet but still nothing SO it looks like it might be the new (and improved) jets from veedub.

I've found if you put a couple of steri tablets into some boiling water & add this to the washer bottle this helps.When i got my GTI the washer bottle had a terrible mouldy smell when i went to fill it for the first time.Been adding the tablets every now & again & no problem ever since.

Try blowing them through with a air line.

Sounds daft but if you live in hard water area then you get a build up of 'scale' similar to the stuff you get in irons.  Soaking it in boiling water helps but in the past, when I lived down south, I used the iron cleaning stuff to get rid of the scale.
