Just tried and it is exactly the same, i.e. it will open alright except the boot (which it used to) but won't lock or make a noise at the pump.

Is this any help?

I'll have to dig out a wiring diagram and have a look. I would guess the next step would be to electrically disconnect the pump and try operating it directly from a 12V source, but I'll do a bit of reading, when I get a minute, and get back to you.

UPDATE: My battery drains itself when I leave the car off. It even reset all the clocks and computer when I switched the car off for 5 minutes.

Ah, well you need to get that sorted first.........could well be linked, I wonder if you have a short somewhere in the electrical side of the central locking system. Found a useful site this morning that might help you a little. Its Audi, but all the Audi's I have had have used the same vaccuum/air central locking system that VW use so it may well help:-
