Kev, the Verve in Rutherglen were meant to be getting one in.

That's a lot easier to get to for me. Will keep an eye out there, thanks.

The Verve in Dalmarnock have a grey 5 door R. Just caught a quick look the other day, nice car but 30k nice?? not sure.

If you're up that way again, I'd love some snaps of the grey R
Seriously considering this colour...

Looks terribly cheap and nasty from the front and don't get me started on the alloys, regardless if there 18's or 19's, black or silver. It's certainly not a patch on the mk6 GTI or its older brother, the R32. Rant over......

You need to drive one     not look at it

Now how did EVO mag summarise it,  oh yes

Quote :

"the Golf R feels sharper, angrier and a whole lot faster than the current GTI

All in all then the Golf R is a yet another hugely impressive addition to the hot hatch Premier League........The Golf R has also got terrific pace and tractability, coupled to a memorable effervescent engine and a sport biased chassis that exudes confidence, composure and perhaps most importantly genuine enthusiasm. Golf R - same game, bigger balls."

I would take the Evo report with a pich of salt! As the test was done in snowy conditions. Wait and see  when they get round to a hot hatch shootout in dryer conditions.

I didn't saying anything about how it drives because I don't know. I'm sure it drives great but not 32K+ great. It seems to me that VW have spent all there budget making a car that drives good but didn't hold enough pennies back to style it to suit. VW has really had recession in mind when styling this car because it is far too bland and this is from a person who prefers a car which is minimum in styling.

Each to their own... I think the Golf R looks much more stylish than the GTI - hence why I ordered one.  It looks subtle, which is exactly up my street.
I also despise the Monza wheel - whether its shadows or the mk5 ones - so I'm thrilled they've done something different with the R alloys.
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

I got my GTI from Crow Road.

^^^^^ Bunch of pretentious c*nts in that Garage.

Anyhoo... Their black R was the first I've seen in the metal and I really liked the subtlety of it all - the press photos don't really do it justice.

I also despise the Monza wheel...so I'm thrilled they've done something different with the R alloys.

^^^^^ I love the R alloys, but keeping them clean won't be fun!
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I got a very different level of service from them, maybe because they are our work clients. Saying that, they did tell me I couldnt get a sunroof cause i had a build week, but it wasnt a confirmed one !!! Anyway, yeah so cant really comment on customer based feedback.

I love the R alloys too.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Probably miffed because I only use them every summer when they do theire service discount!

It's stupid little things, like they refused to give me a part number, or they wanted to charge me an hours labour when I know for a fact it's a job I could DIY in ten minutes if I had a set of jacks...

I digress... the R looks great, check it out if passing. :afro:

Yes, it will be interesting to see the full test reports on UK roads

So VW must have had recession on their mind for 10 years considering how "bland" (I prefer tastefully understated) the MKIV and MKV R32 was
