« on: 01 November 2004, 22:50 »
hello chaps
i want to replace the exhaust on my mk3 what would you chaps suggest a) a standard one from kwik sh!t or B) a stainless steel job with bows and bells and what is the cheapest place to get the stainless steel as i think i will be going for that option in the end and should i get one with a cat or a straight through

I would go for a stainless system mate, i got mine from one of the guys that advertise in the golf magazine, mine is a Magnex Twin DTM, can post pics if you want, and is a cat back system so it goes from the cat, i would personally de cat the car as you will only have to put it back on for your MOT.

So get looking in a copy of GOLF for a suitable stainless kit.  Mine cost me ?311 delivered, not bad when i got quoted ?145 for just a mid pipe from kwik sh1t.

How loud is that mr.wotto?

I want a new system but i dont want a raunchy/throaty
roar.
The induction roar from the k&N is enuff for me!

Have heard ya can get "whisper" type back boxes.

its not that loud unless you take revs over 4k, then it is quite lets a deep roar out :)

Not to bad tho, will see if i can get a mic and record the sound onto my laptop.

Never heard of the whisper back boxes, what are they?

Well i was told that ya can get a quieter version and "whisper" is the word this guy used.

I hadnt come across it either, so was just wondering.

At 4000rpm the road/wind noise is bad enuff. As thats cruising speed on a motorway then think it would give me a headache!
