chould just stack ABF gaskets

if you wanna be a complete gypo about it!

nearly as gypo as offsetting little end bushes, ala turbo technics...

This is gonna be a gypo conversion anyway, im avoiding the inevitable £500 wossner forged pistons as long as possible!

Oooo just thinking, have you tried an engineering firm to get the head ground out to decomp. Thats how mine it and dont think it would cost too much seen as then do an entire cam for around £70

yeah, i have considered that, as well as having a bit machined off the pistons, but i dont really want to go messing around taking pistons out etc to be perfectly honest.

Im still building up a shopping list and a number of options at the moment really.

I think it would be the only way i would go to be honest (getting the head bored). If you think about it putting in what is effectively a metal spacer means you need two gaskets, which means there is double the chance of gasket failure! Wouldnt harm to look into it. If your really stuck get hold of stealth racing, they are the guys that did my car

no more gypo than useing a spacer gasket,   they are just MLS gaskets liek the std ABF ones but with extra shims in the middel.    you can make them by poping the two rivets out of a pair of abf gaskets and adding bit out of one into the other.   or just plonk both gaskets in  they'll hold just fine.  hell i stacked haedgaskets in a turbo diesel.   needed to skim the head past a 3 notch gasket so rather than buy a new head it go a pair of 2 notch gaskets.
that was about 4 yrs and 60,000 miles ago
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Yer im not saying that it will all just explode a mile down the road. Just saying that rather than doing anything with the gasket at all and start stacking its better to lower compression by drilling the head out a bit (engineers will put a value on 'a bit')
