noone seems to bother with APR anymore on 1.8T's .. not sure if they still actually "chip" the car or remap via the port now like revo does.. i know they were introducing it.
bang for buck i recommend revo everytime.. their generic maps seem to adapt better to extra mods too so you'll be ok if you start adding induction/exhaust etc..
Do you know which engine code your car is ? What year is it ?

APR might be a chip.. revo certainly isnt.. although they -may- need to plug directly into your ECU to upload the map, no big hassle.
Pretty sure revo will be cheaper too..
only downside is no switchable maps for your car with revo, just performance or standard (if you buy the SPS1 to switch, otherwise you're in performance mode the whole time)
Can't comment on apr's switchable maps (i.e one for standard, one for perfomance on normal petrol, optimax.. etc etc) because i don't know anyone who's chosen that route.. and i know a LOT of people with remapped 1.8T's... wonder if that's a sign ?  ;)

If you buy Revo with SPS3 then you can adjust the boost and timing to your own taste

Pretty sure one of the guys with a 1.8t that turned up at the amd rolling road had an apr tuned motor (remember him, he was the one that turned up, and no-one knew who he was??!!)

If I remember correctly he was only churning out about 180bhp anyway. Bit pants, cos he got beaten by my diesel (Yup, that's right, I still haven't forgottern that one baby :) )

I remember that geezer, still got the flyer for car portraits he gave me somewhere. From memory he was running the single apr program for standard fuel, i wasn't -too- far from his results and that was with a turbo that had done 120 miles, not run in yet, and a vacuum hose that was dumping boost (all 7psi of it ?:-\) at 2500rpm.

hmm.. now running/holding full boost.. ?must get the thing on a r/r again ?8)

Would not go with apr ,i've heard there is no support and there re-maps don't produce the goods on the gti.Would reccommend jabbasport or amd ,there both  custom maps and you get dyno graph proof, hope this helps.
