The bolsters on the recaros are fine - they are meant for jumping in not sliding in

Try doing that with a prolapsed disc! I sat in a R32 with the Recaros when they first came out, about six months after a back injury. The salesman had to help pull me out again! Now I'm all fixed and can get out of them myself, VW put the price up to £Stupid.

Autocar have published their first review today one of their quotes is

'The manual gearbox of the test car felt like it had done 150K miles.  DSG is a must have'

Add that too the must have leather & this is an expensive Golf.

Autocar are massively in favour of DSG.  They even put the Scirocco R ahead of all other hot hatches purely on the basis that it was available with DSG when the Renaultsport and Focus RS didn't.

Mk6 Golf GTI 5dr, DBP, Monza Shadow, Xenons, ACC, RCD510, Park Assist, Camera, Lux pack.... and now bluetooth.... and now DSG!

I think the Autocar test drivers have forgotten how to use a manual ...

I think Autocar have forgotten how to produce a quality magazine. Loads of spelling and grammar errors these days. Also, they hardly have any decent journos left now.

Sorry, mate, but your comment is complete tosh. Autocar is a great mag. Sutcliffe, Pryor, Goodwin, Henry - they're among the best journalists on any autorag. Very objective, good drivers and good writers.

They're right. DSG sets the VW Golf - all versions - apart from the rubbish churned out by Renault, Toyota, Kia et al. The only real issue is that the 'must haves' are VW's fault not Autocar's. They're what make a GTI almost unacceptably expensive.
Golf R - almost on order - 5-door, DSG, Rising Blue, leather, 19" alloys, RNS510 with Dynaudio, ACC, Sunroof, Parking camera and sensors, luxury pack and cruise control.

'The manual gearbox of the test car felt like it had done 150K miles.  DSG is a must have'

I just bought Autoexpress and Autocar in the newsagent, and will have a look through them both in a minute.
I have to say the manual GTI gearbox put me off getting a manual R.  It felt really slack compared to my ED30 one.  Plus I fancied trying DSG!
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

Is the Golf R in this weeks Autocar? And does have any more photos/info than the web article?
