bloody hell khare (in all fairness, i had a rado that hadnt been mixed with antifreeze and almost the same happened to me)

I didn't call anyone dumb.
As far as I know, IF a light is fitted it MUST work...If the light is NOT fitted then it doesn't get tested...

I just typed in alternator belt golf mk3 on google images and it was there somewhere.

Cheers mate, not a nice thing when this happens  :sad: Ruined my day out.

At least I shall be changing the PAS belt too, which needed doing but I never bothered.
